At your request, Chicago’s Best Country Band – Diamondback
Those are the words of the Chicago Tribune. Who is Diamondback? Diamondback is the house band at Carol’s Pub. Carol’s is the North-side nightclub voted by Chicago Magazine readers as “the best after-hours bar.” Hundreds of regulars flock to Carol’s every weekend. Enthusiastic revelers two-step and boogie to Diamondback’s patented sound. The band’s extensive song list is truly a history of country and, for that matter, American pop music. They specialize in classic country but are just as convincing playing 50’s & 60’s oldies, 70’s & 80’s country rock, southern rock and lowdown dirty blues. All four band members share lead vocal duties. Their multi-faceted vocal attack and vast repertoire promises something for everyone. Seven years of playing together 3 nights a week gives Diamondback an organic tightness that is hard to describe. 100 years plus of collective playing experience makes this an act you shouldn’t miss.
Founding member Dave Doran’s fiery lead guitar defines Diamondback’s sound. Doran has been described by the Chicago Tribune as a “jaw-dropping instrumentalist.” Dave’s resume includes a stint with southern rock giant Barefoot Jerry. Dave provided the lead guitar work on Barefoot Jerry’s critically acclaimed and recently re-released “Watching TV with the Radio On.” Dave also played guitar on Bob Seeger’s “Seegers 7” album.
Diamondback is anchored by bass player Mike McKeehan. Mike has provided the foundation for artists like R&B legend Big Twist and country hit-maker Dave Gibson (of Gibson Miller band fame). Over the last 15 years McKeehan and Doran have performed together thousands of times. They share a musical bond that transcends personalities and is telepathic.
Diamondback is now available for limited bookings. If you want real honky-tonk music for your festival or function, Diamondback is the band you want. They are the real thing - Chicago’s Best County Band.
